Other Looks for 09'

I have come across some other/smaller trends for 09' although as an average girl I have to say that I think they are all a little similar. Since they are a little theme driven I really don't think I will be getting into these too much in concern for staying power. But hopefully I can find crossover pieces that would work from the years other styles.
Western/Frontier...home on a very stylish range. Fringe, soft floral dresses, ankle boots, leather headband, turquiose, coral, brown, plaid shirts and cutoffs. Lauren conrads plaid shirt would be great for this look and also has that rocker edge.

world traveler...This is basically pieces from all the trends combined, plus ethnic prints or even some animal prints. Turquoise, studs, fringe sandals, headbands. Take pieces you might have picked up from a pretend vacation and add them to normal items in your wardrobe to pull the look together.

Like I said most of these trends are based on alot of overlapping pieces/accessories. They are all very themey and I personally will not be investing much on these looks. Here are a few more popular styles for the "Now".

Nautical...this is a classic style that is popular every year. Put together something Navy and White and then add some red or even better some of the bright yellow thats so hot right now. Stripes really bring this style together.

boho musician....think hippie meets a little bit of modern rocker edge. Crossbody bags, leather headbands, boho prints tops/skirts/dresses, rompers, leather gladiators, fringe, cut-offs, sunglasses and stud embelishments. Balance is important.

watercolor...these prints are instyle and will add color to any wardrobe, tops and dresses are the way to go with these.

Undone...less work/structure is more sexy! Its almost a messy beautiful. Light make-up,t-shirt dresses, flat sandals or ankle boots, add some awesome accessories like super earrings or long necklace and done or "Undone"

THAN'S CLOSET OVERHAUL!!!

I always have much better luck picking clothes out for my guys. It just seems that its easier to pick out what will look great on them than what looks good on me. I am glad to help and proud to be with such good looking stylish boys! Our NYC trip made us realize we should amp up our style/wardrobe like it used to be. IN the spirit of this and our second day there, Than hit the jackpot at a huge gap. Its hard b/c these average mall retailers seem to go through phases, stylish one month and then nothing for the next 6 months. Really it seems to be feast or famine, b/c also don't seem to alternate in the highs and lows, they are all on or all way off!!! Its very frustrating when you are looking for a new pair of jeans or something. This is the problem my poor hubby has been having for a while. We haven't been able to find his token store, it used to be american eagle but since they have changed there style alot in the last year, its been impossible for us to shop there. Finally we got lucky with gap offering some newer trendier clothing instead of just the basic colors and chinos that have made them so popular. Hopefully gap will keep up their catering to Than's age bracket, so we will have a good option to shop at.

This shirt is brand new on their website and I am in love with it. It has a pinstripe that you can't see in this picture and also the only half way button down is different and gives a little more laidback feel to the shirt. He does have a birthday coming up!

These are a couple of things we picked up at the gap in NYC to add to freshen his style! I love this Hat it looks so amazing on him!! I really wish he would wear hats more!

Graphic tees are tricky, especially for guys. The overly screen printed shirts look way too young and lame, and he has grown out of most the shirts that have frat boy sayings across them. Gap nailed it right down the middle with these vintage band tees! Still fun and young but in a stylish age appropriate way!

These are just the a few of the things we have added to his closet. We really digging the roll up sleeve button downs, and some fitted jeans. Also his new v-neck tees are a great addition to his wardrobe. So far so stylish and he is having fun taking some risks with things he wouldn't normally pick our for himself and venturing away from polo shirts. He is my hottie and he is lookin great in his new duds!

NEUTRALS...BUILDING A GOOD CLOSET!

Its been years since I spent time dressing stylish so I feel like I am starting with a bare closet and I don't have alot to build on. As a safe rule I don't believe you should participate in every trend out there, only what "works" for you and what has some staying power; sad to say but I will not be rocking the harem pants anytime soon sorry MC Hammer. Also if you did you would be overhauling your closet every 4 months to keep up that would be exhausting and expensive. I like to avoid the trends that could possibly just be a flash in a pan, I think this is easy when the trends are based on a feel of the clothes like edgy or feminine, instead of something based on a particular item, like fringe vests. Since I don't want to spend my spring and summer collecting plain basics I have decided to purchase mostly neutral items that fall into the current trends.

Neutral colored tops with trendy detailing that fall under current styles but the colors will keep classic.

Basic bottoms in neutral tones, like black capris, a dark wash skinny jean, also some classic cut trouser shorts.

This may not bring alot of color into my wardrobe right away, but its the smartest way to build up your closet with quality pieces on a tight budget. A good inexpensive alternitive to bring in certain trends and color is to let your accessories do it. This is my goal plan to acheiving my ultimate closet with out spending a fortune. But I will tackle this more Later!

I also have set Two main rules: If I am purchasing a $$ piece it must combine atleast two trends and I have to really love it so I know I will wear it alot!

Trends 09' Feminine Flirty

Florals are very popular right now and not just for spring, winter florals have been a strong trend. I like the idea of getting a floral dress that I can wear all through the fall. I think the dress below is a perfect example for this since the floral is a bit more neutral and not overwhelming with pastels. The bright floral romper would be a great combination of trends especially since it is so adorable!! It would have to be another risky trendy addition to my closet, and you can't allow to many of those, especially on a small budget! But you can't be a trendsetter if you don't take risks right???

This dress is so gorgeous it is a nice color and the ruffles make it very feminine while the deep v neck line make it super flirty. Be sure to use fashion tape with this one! If funds were unlimited than I would for sure add this to my closet! I do have a wedding to attend in November???

Except for the price this is the perfect top I am looking for, this season. Its a great shade of offwhite, cool for summer and neutral so it would go with alot. Buts its details make it stylish. I would love to wear this with some tailored shorts or my skinny jeans. Add a blazer and scarf it could work through fall also.

Stylish Pj's for the boys

With seasons changing its almost time to pack away the warm pajamas and buy some cooler ones for the next 6 months. I saw these two styles at my current fav kid store Baby gap and think that I should get matching ones for the boys! How cute will that be?? Since these are a lil pricey I plan on buying on size up to make sure we can get our moneys worth.

Three Great Looks for Spring/Summer!!

Yellow is Everywhere right now, its such a great color and it even brightens your mood when you wear it. So Pick up something in Bright Yellow in celebration for Spring!!

Maxi Dresses are going strong!! I love this look its so beachy relaxed but girly. Just changing sandals and accessories can dress it up or down. You should have atleast a couple of these in your closet to get your through the end of summer, you will wear them alot and feel like hotstuff when you do. I picked up this one from target recently its super cute and looks like it came from a pricey boutique. I just can't wait to wear it!

Rompers or Jumpers...these things aren't just for the kiddos anymore! I know these aren't for everyone but I love these personally and am so glad they are back in style atleast for now. There are some great patterned ones coming into the stores right now, and I am noticing more and more everyday. This is my favorite I have seen so far its really $$$. Hopefully I can find a good deal on a cute one before summers end!

Trends 09 "Rocker Edgy"

A trend I am looking forward to is the edgy rocker trend. The color black, distressed jeans, leather and boots are great safe/inexpensive ways to play on this look but still have things that will go on past the life of the trend. I am really digging the color black right now coming outta winter and am only planning to set is aside for the short summer months. Since most the black will be on summer vaction for only a short time I think its worth still buying a few things toward next fall. Especially if I can score a bargin on them. Pregnancy helped me miss the boat last fall/winter, but fall/winter09' is looking promising for style.

Luckiy you can wear the Rocker Edgy stuff now, I love these black jean capris for this kinda look with sandals or flats for spring/summer and tucked inside boots for fall/winter. So I think they would be a smart choice for an addition since it allows year round wear.

A fitted Leather Jacket!! I am craving this Jacket big time and am like a shark circling for it to go on sale! I think Fitted is the only way to wear a Leather Jacket so that it will not ever go out of style. Leather jackets have been very popular for the last couple yrs and don't seem to be dying off soon! I chose this one b/c of its classic shape, I like look of the popular motorcycle jackets but fear that with such a high price tag its better to play it safe with a more classic style. After all the fit is most important to it looking stylish. The length and that the sleeves can be pushed up to give that nice cropped look for early fall/spring.

Two trends one purchase... Combining trends is the perfect way to make the most of a small budget when trying to add a few trendy things to your closet. The distressed boyfriend jean is a perfect example, its b/c of the trend overlap that I have decided to be bold and try this look.

Black booties...Booties have been very fashionalbe for the last couple years but luckily recently the heel heights have decreased and you can actually find a comfty pair. The black makes these rocker and edgy but the ruching makes them still girly/sexy. Since I am short the low ankle is perfect for not making me look stumpy and the suede makes them great for fall/winter. Overall this would be a great item to add for long term use. Also I think they would look great with a variety of outfits from skirts to boyfriend jeans (see pic above).

Boyfriend Trend 09'

The "Boyfriend" trend started back in the fall mostly with the Boyfriend Blazer, and the new "Boyfriend" style jean. This is set to continue through winter of 2010, I like the look and how you can make it more girly with heels and cute tops.
Shopbop put this look together of how to rock the boyfriend look! I bought a boyfriend blazer from express back in March and love it except it is a little long for me so I plan to have it altered, this will hopefully fit better and also allow for it to be worn past this boyfriend trend.

These are my Boyfriend jean of choice. After looking at lots of different brands and styles I think that the only way to wear these is cropped shorter, slightly baggy not huge falling off and distressed. This will be the most trendy piece added to my closet this year, but i think I am going for it.

Best Basics for Spring/Summer

While adding a few trendy pieces to your closet each season, you should still maintain the basics items. Basics are the classic, always in style things you use to help build your look from one season to the next. Here's a list of Basic classic things that I need to replace in my wardrobe.
New Sunglasses for Spring and Summer are a nice reminder of warm weather on the way!! Aviators are so classic but this bubble wrap pair from Ray Ban are a little more girly in the way they hug the face. Since Aviators are so classic these will always be instyle, besides whats better for a pilots wife???

Flip flops...I need a pair of gold or brown (neutral) to replace the sad worn-out pair I have. Just Causal day or for the beach these rubber ones are super comfty and practical but the metallic color adds style.

So now which color, is the Question...Answer...Both???

Other Basics that are important...
**Long White TAnk
**Long Black TAnk
**Long White Tee
**Black 3/4 Length Cardi

There it is my shopping list of Basics!!

Some good spring things!

The perfect Tan wedge sandal!! This shoe is on my hitlist, it will go great with my new skinny jeans (see below pic) and also shorts or any dresses for the summer! Hope to add it to my collection soon!

A great Skinny Jean!! Jbrand seems to be a great brand of jeans so I have decided to give them a try, with this style jean only in a different wash! I hope these will be my new favorite pair of jeans all year round.

Spring/Summer 09 "Must-haves"

Unfortunately, without unlimited re$oure$ I am choosing carefully on ways to freshen up my closet, and get the most in return! This means only adding a couple of trendy pieces that will be in style/function throughout the seasons. Also since I am still pregnant and will most likely still be losing weight throughout the summer, I don't want to focus/spend to much on stuff that will only get me through the 3 months of hot weather we have here! The bonus of this is that I am hoping to catch things on clearence to wear next fall/winter also. Other than the obvious new tops here and there I have put alot of thought into my ulitmate closet rebuild, and have fallen for some key things I am certain I need to add to my closet!

Skinny jeans...I don't see these babys going outta style soon and I am really wanting a pair now!

Flat gladiator sandals..I am so in love with these, I wish I could get a pair in every color and style!

Cool Light weight Scarves.. Some that could transistion all the way to fall/early winter!

A cool pair of Aviator sunglasses...Classic always in style still yet very on trend!

A neutral wedge sandal...Something you could wear with everything!

So much shopping..so little budget!!

Waist where aren't thou???

Ok, so After having two kids in three years and wearing maternity clothes, cycling the same like 6 shirts for the last 9 months i am ready to rejoin the world of the stylish!! For the last three years I haven't felt like myself, constant changing body shapes from pregnant to not and back and inbetween. Now that I have come outta my fashion coma, I reminded myself I am still young and can rock some of the trendy fashions each season and to just go for it. Than is on board and we are both on a mission to dress hip yet age appropriate. Now I am out to find the best pieces to upgrade our wardrobe with, to help us do just that!
